Staff Team Changes
We’ve had some recent changes to the JCM Team, with Phil Bell retiring and Stephen Briggs joining us to take over some of Phil’s role managing our Finances.
Introducing Stephen Briggs:
“Having recently retired after working at Solihull Sixth Form College for 35 years, first as a maths teacher and then as a data systems designer and administrator, I am enjoying this new stage of life. I moved to Birmingham to study and became a Christian at university, thanks to the witness of friends. Subsequently, I spent three years in France with OM, where I met my wife Wilma, and we have three children and two grandchildren. Getting in my ten thousand steps, chess, cycling, DIY, doing my church’s accounts and now helping with Just Caring, fill my time and I look forward to seeing all that God has in store in the coming years.”
Reflections from Phil Bell:

What have the highlights of your time working for JCM been?
“Seeing the Lord provide and give wisdom to all of our staff and volunteers over the years as they provide support to our beneficiaries in situations which can be unpredictable and sometimes beyond their own experience and confidence. It has been great to be part of this united team which wants not only to give practical support and help, but also take opportunities to share the hope that can be found in Jesus. Pete’s wholehearted commitment to those we support is inspirational. Also, the commitment and enthusiasm of the Trustees in giving support and direction to the charity.”
Any disappointments?
“No, I feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to be part of the charity team and use my previous experience to help in the finance and administration areas. I have really enjoyed the role but feel that now is the time for someone new to take a fresh look at these areas as Just Caring seeks to grow and support more young people. Potential changes to the gardening project and a Hub to work from will call for the finance and administration functions to grow and develop as well.”
What will you be doing now?
“I will continue to support Just Caring as a volunteer. There are still some aspects of administration that I will continue to carry out, and I hope that I can have more regular involvement with the group activities and get to see and interact with the beneficiaries more.”
