Caring through the Crisis

Caring through the Crisis

We have now been in living with lockdown for over a month. Having to adapt has brought different challenges and heartaches to all of us. At Just Caring our aim is still to offer care and help to everyone we support – even if on the surface this now looks very different to how it did a month ago.
In order to best protect our beneficiaries, we are avoiding meeting up with anyone, either in groups or individually. This has meant having to suspend our weekly routine of group activities and letting the Gardening Project go fallow for the season.
Most of our time is now spent on the phone, catching up with our beneficiaries and helping out in whatever way we can. We are really grateful for the food that we were donated last Harvest (that providentially has lasted until now!) which we have been able to use to put together food parcels for those who are struggling to make ends meet.
As well as regular phone contact we are experimenting with technological ways to meet up and are trialling Zoom and WhatsApp video calls. However not everyone we support can afford the data to take part in this and it still falls far short of seeing someone in person.
Through times of uncertainty and change, we are so grateful to have a Heavenly Father who knows the future. We don’t know what our ministry will look like in another month’s time – but He knows and we can trust Him because He is faithful and that will never change.

“He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them, he remains faithful forever. He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry.”

Psalm 146 v 6-7
